- Perhaps taken from the lantern atop the dome of the State Capitol The State buildings, beginning on the left - using their names as of 2016 - are the Richard H. Austin Building, Stevens T. Mason Building, John A. Hannah Building, Ottawa Building, G. Mennon Williams Building, Murray D. Van Wagoner Building. On the left, part of the Lansing Civic Center is seen. The high-rise building on the right in the rear is Lansing Towers apartments. In the plaza, directly above the roof of the Capitol, is the multi-part sculpture named "This Equals That" by Michael Heizer; built 1976-1980 and removed in 2004. West Michigan Avenue resumes beyond the complex. Walnut Street is in the foreground passing beneath the walkway to the plaza.

- From the left are seen Cunningham Drugs on the street level of the Prudden Building with its entry off West Michigan Avenue, Archy's Lounge, House of Beef, and Hotel Olds on the south side. On the north side are seen the Bank of Lansing, Western Union, Jury-Rowe and the Lansing Police Headquarters. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo and cut off one corner. - At right is the end of the Gladmer Theatre at 233 North Washington Avenue. Moving left, in the same building, Randall's Health Foods is at 231. Continuing south, Silver Lead Paint at 229, Western Auto Supply at 225, Emery-Pratt office equipment at 223, Epicure Tea Shop at 221, MacLaughlin Music at 219, National China at 213, and Firestone Tires at 211. The block ends with the Tussing building at West Ottawa Street, home of the Palms Theatre at 209 and the College Drugstore at 201. Buildings seen to the south include the Bank of Lansing at 101 North Washington Avenue, Prudden building on South Washington and West Michigan Avenue, and the Michigan National Tower at West Allegan Street and South Capitol Avenue.
