- John W. Austin(?) lays cornerstone during dedication ceremony for the Ambassador Bridge from Detroit, Michigan to Windsor, Ontario. "On January 3, several hundred invited guests gathered for the official laying of the cornerstone on the administration building on the American side of the bridge. A copper box containing copies of the "Border Cities Star" and three Detroit newspapers, a collection of photographs of the bridge in various stages of construction, and other documents were placed in the cornerstone marked "1929." J.W. Austin, Sherman Callender and C.D. Ferguson, U.S. Collector of Customs for Michigan were the featured speakers," from "The Ambassador Bridge: a Monument to Progress," by Philip Parker Mason.
