- Description:
- Dr. Willis Dunbar moderates a roundtable discussion concerning an upcoming vote on a bonding proposal for Kalamazoo schools. The panel features Assistant Superintendent of Schools Dan Heathcote, attorney Henry Ford, Jr., and President of the Michigan Congress of Parents and Teachers E.L. Church. Heathcote argues that parents should vote for the bond proposal and lists a number of cities across the state that have approved similar measures. Church describes how school buildings should be modernized and Ford explains why the Board of Education has opted to pursue funding through bonds when the city of Kalamazoo has traditionally followed a "pay as you go" strategy to avoid debt. The recording contains only the second half of the thirty minute discussion.
