- Dr. Robert Sargent Shriver Jr. receiving an honorary Doctory of Laws degree at the June 1965 Commencement. Dr. James Miller and Dr. Dale Faunce are standing to either side of Shriver. The photograph appeared in Western Michigan University Magazine Vol. 23 No. 3. Shriver was the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps, and founded the Job Corps.

- Hooding ceremony at the January 1966 Commencement for Robert Briggs, who received an honor Doctor of Laws degree from Western Michigan University. Dr. Russell Seibert and Dr. L. Dale Faunce placing hood on Briggs; Dr. James Miller speakes at the podium. Briggs was the Executive Vice President of Consumers Power.

- Dr. Dale Faunce and Dr. Russell Seibert, WMU faculty, placing a doctoral hood on Dr. E. Gifford Upjohn as he receives honorary Doctor of Laws degree at WMU June Commencement 1964. A cropped version of the photograph appeared in the Western Michigan University Magazine, Vol. 22 No. 3. Dr. E. Gifford Upjohn served as a director of the National Citizens Committee of the World Health Organization and as national chairman of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers' Association. He served on the Governor's Citizen's Committee on Higher Education, was a member of the Kalamazoo County Board of Supervisors, the City Commission, was president of the Kalamazoo Community Chest and was president of the Kalamazoo Academy of Medicine. He was chairman of the board of the Upjohn Company of Kalamazoo.
