Large but simple two-story wooden building with attic and two chimneys. Appears to be used as an apartment building, with fourteen visible standard sash windows, and four separate entrance doors, one of which bears the address 239. At the door farthest away two African American women are standing, with one holding a large washtub. A large white cloth is hanging from an upstairs window. Utility pole with wires and an old gas (?) streetlight is in the foreground.
