- Description:
- This is a collection of digitized name index cards compiled by library staff at the Lansing Public Library and Capital Area District Libraries' Forest Parke Library and Archives (Local History). Each card contains a personal name, followed by one or more citations to Local History books, magazines, newspapers, and other library materials, some not at the Capital Area District Libraries. The people listed are mainly Lansing and area residents, with some additions of famous Americans or others who visited Lansing at some point in history. The citation dates are from the mid 1800s to the late 20th century, and were probably compiled mostly in the 1960s and 1970s. One of the PDF files connected to this collection is a key to all of the citations used, and where to find the materials as of 2015. The notices have been grouped into one PDF file for each letter of the alphabet (or sometimes 2-3 in a file with small quantities). All of the files are keyword searchable, but it should be noted that many abbreviations, spelling errors, and occasional poor type or handwriting are present on the cards. Corrections were made where possible.
