- This 1-page letter was handwritten in black ink on slightly yellowed paper by Edward F. Marschner who was the president of the Detroit Board of Education. The paper is printed with light red lines and shows the letterhead of the Board of Education of the City of Detroit as well as the names of officers. It also has the watermark, "English Bond." The text of the letter has been transcribed as follows: "Detroit, Mich. December 31st 1900 I was born in the City of Detroit, at the northeast corner of Lafayette and Dequindre Streets April 16th 1857. Was married at Milwaukee, Wis. in 1880 to Miss Emelia Mayer who was born in New York City February 2nd 1862. We have three children: Edward P. Marschner - 19 years. Lillie F. Marschner - 18 years. Armin O. Marschner - 14 years I entered an apprenticeship to learn the trade of Lithographic Engraving with the Calvert Lithograph Company February 29th 1872 - have been employed with that firm since that date and am now a foreman of the Engraving Department. Ed. F. Marschner."

The document was granted in Port Huron on December 6, 1901, and is signed by Egbert T. Loeffler, D.D.S., president; Frank O. Gilbert, D.D.S., treasurer; and Marshall B. Dennis, D.D.S, secretary. The golden seal of the State Board of Examiners in Dentistry has been affixed at the lower left. The certificate bears the mark of the Calvert Lithograph Company of Detroit.

- Handwritten letter on "Office of E.B. Ward" stationery, dated April 10, 1874, concerning the potential sale of some silver stocks. The letterhead includes an engraving of E.B. Ward's Warehouse by the Calvert Lithographing Company. The letter reads: Hank[?], I can do nothing with your Sil Stock except I sell it outright or on time with privilege of [?] back at a future time by paying at the rate of three per cent per month. It amounts to this. That if I sell it on time you will only use up the money & some one else will own it at half its value. I would also have to five my note to obtain the money & when due would only have the stock to repay me. The money lenders here are a most [?] set. I tried to get $600 on the stock without giving my note but it was impossible to obtain. Do you wish to sell outright for six hundred dollars. If so I will buy myself, if I can raise the money & sell it to Will[?] if he wishes it & to the Old Grut[?]. Your stock will be worth more in a year & I do not care to see it go out of the family. The recto bears a color Calvert Lithograph Company illustration of Detroit, as viewed from the air above Delray, facing northeast, captioned "All Roads Will Lead to Detroit in September. Why? (see over)." The exposition site, containing the large Main Building, several smaller structures, and two ponds, is at the lower right corner of the image, to the west of Fort Wayne. The Detroit, Lansing and Northern Railroad; Detroit and Bay City Railroad; Michigan Central Railroad; Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway; Wabash Railroad; Detroit Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway; Belt Line; and Lake Erie, Essex and Detroit River Railway lines are all labeled, as are the communities along the Canadian side of the Detroit River--Walkerville, Windsor, Sandwich, and Mineral Spring. The verso several passages about the importance of Detroit, the expo, the expo's Main Building, music to be provided by Signor C.A. Cappa's Seventh Regiment Band, and attractions including livestock, the Art Gallery, the Floral Palace, the Industrial and Mechanical Halls.

The certificate was printed by the Calvert Lithographing Company and includes an illustration of a horse-drawn streetcar traveling along a street, and the seal of the State of Michigan. The certificate is signed by the company's president Frederick Buhl, and its secretary James S. Stridiron. The certificate also has vertical handwriting signed by Stridiron canceling the stock dated December 10, 1873. The form includes a form filed in with the stock's details along the left side, and a form filled in with information about the stock's transfer to E.L. Hineman on the verso.

- Color lithograph, "Club House of the Detroit Fishing and Hunting Association, St. Clair Flats, Michigan." The lithograph was printed by the Calvert Lithograph Company, Detroit. It shows an illustration of the front of the club house with many sailboats and rowboats traversing to and from the club house, and many other individuals on the grounds and dock of the club house. The club house is painted yellow, with green trim and a red roof. It is topped by an American flag in the center and a blue banner on the right. A smaller building is located to the left of the larger club house, connected by a bridge. Text on the bottom left of the image reads "A.C. Varney, Architect, Detroit." Derek S. The building was known as the Rushmere Hotel. The largest of the clubhouses on the Flats, it was built in 1884 and could accommodate 150 guests. - Detroit Firemen's Fund Association membership certificate, designed by the Calvert Lithograph Company, and issued to Nicholas Walsh, and dated April 1, 1905. The certificate is signed by the group's president Guy Northrop, treasurer William H. Comtney, and secretary George D. Rohde, and a red embossed Detroit Firemen's Fund Association seal has been stamped besides the signatures. A color illustration of firefighters using a ladder apparatus and of a pair of firefighters riding on a horse-drawn fire engine are on the left side of the document.

Ruhle Brothers, Philadelphia. Dear Sirs. In reply to yours of the 6th. Your price is now so much in advance of other standard manufacturers that we felt obliged to place our orders elsewhere.
