The exposed face bears a color Calvert Lithograph Company illustration of Detroit, as viewed from the air above Delray, facing northeast, captioned "All Roads Will Lead to Detroit in September. Why? (see over)." The exposition site, containing the large Main Building, several smaller structures, and two ponds, is at the lower right corner of the image, to the west of Fort Wayne. The Detroit, Lansing and Northern Railroad; Detroit and Bay City Railroad; Michigan Central Railroad; Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway; Wabash Railroad; Detroit Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway; Belt Line; and Lake Erie, Essex and Detroit River Railway lines are all labeled, as are the communities along the Canadian side of the Detroit River--Walkerville, Windsor, Sandwich, and Mineral Spring. - Color booklet from The Evening News, The Detroit Tribune, and The Sunday News Tribune, containing a poem, "A Happy New Year," written by Thad. Stevens Barnum. The front cover features a color illustration depicting the start of the new year, with an angelic figure and a background of an evening sky featuring a moon and two owls on the left, and Father Time and a background featuring the sun on the right. Text on the bottom left of the front cover reads "The Calvert Lith. Co. Detroit." The back cover features a color illustration of two boys selling copies of The Evening News with the title "INTRUSION." underneath the illustration in the center. The inside of the booklet contains the seven stanza poem written across four pages. Each page has a background depicting various scenes, including a newspaper salesman, a family sitting in front of a fire, a ballroom dance, and a horse drawn sleigh. The drawings are signed "Jos. Kraemer" on the bottom left.

Underneath the text of the certificate is a banner reading "Non finis, sed initium." The seal of the Detroit Training School in Elocution and English Literature is to the bottom left. - Membership certificate, designed by the Calvert Lithographing Company, from the Michigan Soldiers' Monument Union, awarded to William Monroe by the Schools of Michigan in exchange for his donation of 10 cents toward the construction of the Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument. The design includes a central image of two women, three uniformed soldiers, and a dog mourning around a flag-draped casket. Battlefield scenes decorate the corners of the borders.
