- Dr. Willis Dunbar discusses the lack of democracy in South America in the light of recent coups which overthrew four established governments. Dunbar explains the problems in refusing to recognize governments established by force and also expresses doubts about the United Nations' refusal to recognize countries which do not uphold the Declaration of Human Rights. Dunbar also says that the problem facing the establishment of democracy in South America is the rise of dictators who cater to a broad and strong worker group rather than to the elite class.

Obama thanks his wife Michelle, Vice President Joe Biden, his "family" of campaign workers, and the volunteers. Saying "democracy in a nation of 300 million can be noisy and messy and complicated", Obama praises the system as defining liberty. He lays out his vision for the country and the next four years. Obama reminds listeners of his accomplishments, says there is more work to do, and calls for continued help from citizens. Obama says "America has never been about what can be done for us. It's about what can be done by us together..."
