- Two Russian prisoners of war show their paintings to an unidentified YMCA secretary during a visit to an unidentified German prison camp. Angels appearing from heaven on the battlefield are the themes of both paintings on the easel. The YMCA provided art supplies to prisoners to encourage them to paint. POW's often displayed their art work at POW exhibitions and sold their art in neutral countries to earn some money.

- This view of the prison camp at Tuchel II, probably from the prison water tower or a guard tower. This photograph shows a number of new wooden barracks that have gardens in front of the doors. Note the number of smoke stacks in the roofs of the barracks which reflect a concern for heat and ventilation. To the left, a large new building is under construction with prisoners providing the labor.

- This is a bird's eye view of the prison camp at Zossen-Wuensdorf which showd Muslim prisoners standing in a circle, listening to the speaker standing on the platform in the middle of the compound. A group of German officers and several Turkish officers stand to the left of the speaker. This photograph may show a recruitment address to attract Muslim prisoners to volunteer to serve with the Turkish Army against the Allies.

- A group of Russian prisoners rejoice upon hearing the news that the Bolshevik government had signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in March 1918, which ended the war on the Eastern Front. Amid the dancing, one Russian prisoner wears a French helmet (at the left). They would soon realize that while the war had ended with the Germans, the Russian Civil War would delay their departure from Germany for as long as five years.

- French and Russian prisoners "air out" their mattresses in the sun outside their barrack in the prison compound at Zwickau. Prisoners had to periodically clean out their bedding and linens to eliminate vermin which could quickly spread diseases in the cramped conditions in the enlisted men's barracks.

- Russian prisoners play mandolins and violins while two POW's dance in the compound in Czersk. German non-commissioned officers watch the entertainment. These performances provided a great deal of entertainment for war prisoners.

- French prisoners of war line up to buy refreshments at the canteen in the prison compound at Erlangen. The canteen appears to be well stocked with provisions, suggested by the goods in the window. French and Russian prisoners relax in the shade of a shed to the right. A group of POW's in the middle of the photograph are in a playful mood; one of the French prisoners gives his fellow inmate a pair of "horns" with his fingers.

- As Austro-German forces mounted a counter-offensive in Galacia in 1915, droves of Russian prisoners arrived at German prisons. Hundreds of recently captured Russian POW's disembark from their railway cars at the train station at Lamsdorf while German guards watch attentively behind a pile of logs. The railroad system provided all the necessities for daily life for a prison camp, ranging from food to supplies to prisoners-of-war.

- A cosmopolitan group of thirteen Allied officers, representing Belgium, Britain, Scotland, France, India, French North Africa, and Russia, pose outdoors at the prison camp at Osnabrueck. The Gerrmans used these types of photographs for propaganda purposes to highlight Germany's death struggle with the majority of the world.
