- At Grand Avenue North, north side, looking northeasterly. From North Grand Avenue to the river, East Shiawasse Street is fully occupied by shops and stores. Smokestack with letters "Bordens" is seen east of the Grand River and north of East Shiawassee. City Planning Division staff annotated the photo.

- Middle of the west side. Viewed from East Lenawee Street across South Washington Avenue, a portion of H & H Wine Cellar and Party Shop is visible. To the north, McFarlane Drugs at 428, Giffels Furs at 426, L & S Jewelry at 424, Eddington Rug Company at 422, and Wolverine Parking at 414-418 South Washington Avenue. - A group of unidentified staff standing outside the Robert B. Shank grocery market, most likely at 200 S. Washington Ave. Shank sometimes had multiple locations for his market in the 1890s. He died in 1900.

- Located on the northwest corner of South Washington Avenue and West Lenawee Street. Signs advertise groceries, beer and wine and ice cream. Thirteen apartments occupying the upper floors of the building are listed in the city directory.

- Description:
- Lansing Broadcasting Co. building housed several businesses in addition to their WILS-AM radio station: Verra-Kleen Cleaners, and Baucom Barber; all used 407 as their address. Next, the Dura-Chrome Dinette Co. was at 417. Michigan Liquor Control Commission Retail and Wholesale Store was at 417. A&P grocery completed the block at 425.
