- Description:
- One set of architectural "Specifications for Mr. John C. Garvey for a Brick Veneered and Frame Hotel Building Located on the Northeast Corner of Dix Ave. and Waterman St." The specifications (Job 245) are bound in a booklet that has two brass fasteners at the top. The cover is made of light brown paper that has a cloth backing and includes handwritten text for the title. Printed text beneath the title shows the name, "Falkinburg & Miller, J. Lawson Miller Successor Architects." The cover interior and outside back cover have printed advertisements for many contractors, tradesmen, and building materials suppliers. The booklet contains 84 pages of typewritten text that give brief descriptions of all of the materials and construction requirements for the project. An index is shown on the first page. John C. Garvey was the proprietor of the Michigan Central Stock Yards Hotel which was located at the corner of Dix Avenue and Waterman Street in southwest Detroit.

- Color postcard depicting a view down Jefferson Avenue from the intersection of 3rd Street, with the Wayne Hotel, pedestrians, horse-drawn vehicles, and a sign reading "Wines and Spirits" visible. Printed on verso: Wayne Hotel, Detroit, Mich. Looking East on Jefferson, showing The Wayne Hotel is one of the favorite hotels in the city. Located on Jefferson Avenue, Cor. 3rd, directly across from the Michigan Central Depot. It is on the River Bank and from its windows a fine view of the river traffic is possible in the season. In the summer time, a pavilion, built out to the water's edge, adds to the attractions of the hostelry, which has been for the past twenty years, under the management of J. R. Hayes. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked May 11, 1914.

A disclaimer on the cover cautions that the management declines responsibility to damage to clothing caused by accidents in the dining room. A note about the departure times for the Detroit and Cleveland Navigation Company's passenger steamers from the Third Avenue Dock to Cleveland and Buffalo is included within.

- Half-folded menu for the Detroit Laundrymen's Club dinner at the Russell House, dated Tuesday, February 11, 1902, printed on beige paper. The hotel's crest is printed on the cover in red. In addition to dinner options the menu also contains a program of selections to be performed by the Russell House Orchestra under the direction of Signor L. Alberti. A list of guests and members of the club is on the back cover.

The cover is red with an color illustration of a man in a long coat and a tricorn hat pulling a vertical rope, presumably to suggest the ringing of a bell. The booklet is bound at the top with red, white, and blue ribbon. A program of musical selection to be performed, is included inside along with the menu.
