- Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print depicting the Opera House following the fire that consumed it in 1897. Much of the Opera House and the surrounding block, including the Henry R. Leonard Furniture Company, Wright, Kay, and Company and Michell are destroyed. The photo was taken from an elevated position, across Campus Martius, facing northeast. Monroe Street extends along the right edge of the frame, and Woodward Avenue is at the lower left. A portion of the moonlight tower in front of City Hall rises along the right edge of the frame. A crowd is gathered in Campus Martius. Signs are visible in the background for H.J. Caulkins Detroit and Michigan Dental Depot, and D.M.
