- This poster promotes a field hockey match between players from Oxford University and Cambridge University. The artist pokes fun at some of the intellectuals in the prison camp at Kedos, who are slowing up the start of the match. Hockey not only kept the POW's in good physical shape, it also provided entertainment for the other prisoners.

- British and French prisoners stand at attention during roll call in the prison compound at Wahn. German officers and non-commissioned officers stand in the center of the first row counting the prisoners and addressing sick calls. The prisoners stand in front of their barrack. Maintaining accurate counts of prisoners was critical for security and labor assignments.

- A game of chess pits a French soldier against a French colonial trooper in a German prison camp. Spectators include French prisoners of war and German soldiers. A British POW naps in his chair while wearing his slippers. Board games helped improve the morale in the barracks by giving the prisoners some mental diversions.

In the background, construction is underway for new administrative buildings to support the prison camp. As the war dragged on, Allied POWs continued to flow into Germany from across Europe.

- This cartoon appeared in a Smyrna newspaper in October 1918, five days before the Turks signed an armistice with the Allies, which ended the Ottoman Empire's participation in World War I. The newspaper welcomes British and Indian prisoners from the interior of Anatolia to the city. Smyrna served as the repatriation center for British and Indian POW's at the end of the war.

- English prisoners of war meet on the steps of their barrack at the prison camp at Goettingen. Some of these men have adopted pieces of civilian clothing at the expense of their military appearance. Such practices represented a potential security threat since non-military clothing could be used to support escapes.

- French, British, and Russian prisoners of war join civilian internees for this picture of the narrow gauge railway in Guestrow. They sit on one of the locomotives and cars with a German NCO and guards, with a second locomotive to the right. The Germans constructed railways in larger prison camps to move supplies, men, and materials as part of the daily operations of the camp facility.

- Former British, Russian, and German prisoners of war meet at Flushing in the Netherlands as they head home as part of a POW exchange program. Several of these men have received grevious wounds and would not be able to contribute to their nations' war efforts.

- This photograph shows the British sailors and soldiers who lived in the "English Submarine," an underground barrack, at Doeberitz. The barrack is definitely crowded, like a submarine, but is well-stocked with tables and benches, a large wooden stove, and there are lots of provisions on the shelves in the back of the room.
