- A parade tribute to Oldsmobile down Washington Avenue. Several of the 1961 models are shown, followed by the Lansing Eastern High School marching band. The Gladmer Theatre, Parker's Paint and Wallpaper store, Roy's Steak House, Mark's Jewelry, Vandervoort's Hardware, and many other Washington Avenue businesses are visible. - Street was closed for parking. From the period when South Washington Street was used as parking lots. The parking attendant's booth can be seen at Allegan Street. According to Lansing City Council Proceedings from October 3, 1966, the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of South Washington were to be turned into a Parking Mall starting November 21, 1966. On June 9, 1989, Council ordered that the attended parking operations were to be eliminated.

- The Michigan State Capitol and the Michigan National Bank tower can be seen in the background. At the far right is the Stoddard building (renamed Farnum in 1980) which opened in 1960. The Plymouth Congregational Church in front of it burned down in February of 1971.

- Both sides of Washington Avenue are seen in this photo taken across East Allegan Street, looking to the north. Several additional blocks can be seen to the north across Michigan Avenue, particularly the Bank of Lansing at 103 North Washington Avenue and the Tussing building at 106 West Ottawa Street. Of note on the west side of South Washington Avenue are the vacant storefront at 100, the Holly Lansing Grill at 104, Baker Shoes at 106, and S. S. Kresge department store at 114 South Washington Avenue. On the east side at right, the Morgan's Jewelers sidewalk clock, the Planters Peanuts sign of The Peanut Shop, and Rouser Rexall Drugs store.
