- Mounted sepia-toned photographic print of the interior of Mrs. R.W. Allen's Hair Goods shop at 251 Woodward Avenue. Six women pose beside display cases containing combs and tins along the walls of the shop. Mirrors and advertisements for hair products are posted along the back wall. "June 1896, 251 Wood.," is handwritten along the bottom of the matting. "Mrs. R.W. Allen's Hair Goods, Detroit," is handwritten on the verso.

- Description:
- Black and white photograph, mounted on board, of the parlor of a home that was located at 126 E. Congress. The room has a fireplace, piano, rococo furniture, and portrait paintings. A typed caption on the back of the mounting reads "The parlor of a 3-story brick house on East Congress Street and the corner of Beaubien. It was the home of Alexis Chapoton, (also known as Alexander Chapoton, Sr.) and his wife the former Felice Montreuil of Walkerville, Ont. They were married Feb. 5, 1839."
