- A letter from Ralph Emery, a clerk working for the Detroit Stove Works, to his father, Robert T. Emery, in Belfast, Maine, dated November 26, 1886. The letter is written on Detroit Stove Works letterhead, which features a lithograph, credited to the Calvert Lithograph Company, depicting the Detroit Stove Works offices in Detroit and Chicago as well as the company's foundry in Hamtramck, Michigan. The letter reads: My dear Father, I suppose Thanksgiving passed off as quietly as usual in Belfast, it was very quite here, was at the office most of the day. Have you any sleighing yet, we have had no snow at all although I see by the papers that East + West of me they have had fearful snow storms. We shall shut the works down on account of the Funeral of Francis Palms, who is President of the Michigan Stove Co. Mr. Palms was the richest man in this state - lives opposite where I board. His daughter is the lady who Senator Jones of Florida - + about whom the papers have had so much to say. At present Jones + his son are both here. The Senator has not been outside of Detroit except for a day to some place within 60 miles - for over a year. He has not been near Washington for much over a year but boards at the Russell House + draws his salary same as if he was in Washington all the time - People here think him somewhat out of his head. Have just returned from Mr. Palms funeral, it is the first Catholic funeral I have ever attended + was on a very grand scale - all the Stove Works turned out + the men made a big show. Notice by the Paper that the contract for supplying Belfast with water has been given to Boston parties. Hope you are well + that I shall hear from you soon. With my kindest regards to all. - Typewritten letter and envelope sent by the J.L. Hudson Company to Mrs. William H. Johnston of 17 West Bethune Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, accompanying six halftone photographic images of women modeling clothing for the upcoming Fall season. The envelope is postmarked 1918. The letter is on J.L. Hudson Company stationery. The message reads: Dear Madam: We are presenting herewith a group of photographic reproductions of the newer models in Fall apparel. May we not have the pleasure of a personal visit in the near future and a further introduction into what we believe is appropriate in style and texture for the coming season? Yours very truly, The J.L. Hudson Co.

It was printed in black text on white paper and indicated that Richmond & Backus Company paid $264.63 for various city taxes on "Personal Property, Jeff. Ave. North." The receipt, No. 37, was signed by "T.R. Cumings, Receiver of Taxes."

- John Greenslade Oils invoice for 10 gallons of cylinder oil sold to G.A. Dupuis on June 9, 1886. The invoice is printed with an engraving of the company's building at 38 and 40 Jefferson Avenue, as well as an ornate header incorporating a cask of oil in a doorway, a scroll, and several branches.

- Moran, Fitzsimons and Company catalog, dated June 4, 1887, and numbered one. The catalog lists wholesale groceries sold by the company, accompanied by advertisements highlighting particular goods. The catalog is bound in a green paper cover with a message to buyers, an index of wares, and an index of advertisers printed on the front. The front cover also provides the company's address as 45, 47, and 49 Woodward Avenue, and 40 and 42 Griswold Street.

- J.T. Wing and Company invoice for $71.20 for leather belts and hose sold to the E.J. Dossin Company on June 28, 1922. Several additional expenses were handwritten beneath the initial total. The invoice features a letterhead touting J.T. Wing's compliance with the Child Labor Act, and promoting their "High Speed Graphite Babbitt," and "Detroit star Grinding Wheels." "We carry a full line of genuine wrought iron and steel pipe," is stamped in the lower left corner.

- One copyright registration, "No. 3286 P," dated February 15, 1884, issued by the "Library of Congress, Copyright Office, Washington." The registration form is printed in black text on white paper and includes blank lines that have been completed in handwritten blue ink text. It indicates that a copyright was issued to the Richmond & Backus Company of Detroit for a "Book or Form" which is described in more specific detail in handwritten text. The registration form was signed in the lower right corner by "A. R. [Ainsworth Rand] Spofford, Librarian of Congress." An oval-shaped embossed seal of the Copyright Office is located in the upper left corner of the form.
