Directly ahead in the photo are the United States Federal building and Post Office, Michigan Bar Association, Auto-Owners Insurance, YMCA, and buildings comprising the General Motors-Oldsmobile complex. To the right, the Estes-Leadley funeral home is seen.

In the plaza, directly above the roof of the Capitol, is the multi-part sculpture named "This Equals That" by Michael Heizer; built 1976-1980 and removed in 2004. West Michigan Avenue resumes beyond the complex.

The high-rise building on the right in the rear is Lansing Towers apartments.
