- Description:
- A handwritten ledger of voters in the April 1, 1907, local election. The ledger records registrations for the First Precinct of the Third Ward. Notes at the end of the ledger list the following: Inspectors: William H. Porter Schuyler Champion Elmer S. Avery Clerks: Jack T. Norris Josiah Bruno Gate Keeper: Nelson Brown The ledger consists of several columns, some of which are not identified. It can be assumed that the first column (before voter name) is for registration status, a check-mark meaning registered, "N. R." for Not Registered. Occasionally there are notes in that column as well. The second column is voter's name, the third column is not identified. Fourth and fifth columns are for Republican or Democrat, the sixth column is for other party affiliation. Following that is the residential address of the voter and any notes about employer, rooming status, etc. The end papers note the results for some of the races in the election, with vote counts. There are many election-related articles that appear in both the Lansing "State Republican" and "Journal" for the end of March and early April, 1907, including profiles of all the candidates.
