According to a descendant of the Nico family, the person in white at the curb is Peter Nico and the photograph was taken on a 4th of July sometime in the 1930s. Peter is cleaning out a hole at the curb to place an American flag there (which can be seen leaning against the awning). The Nico family lived above the store at this time. Two copies. Originally part of the Stebbins Collection.
