- Mounted black and white photo of the aerial apparatuses of the Detroit Fire Department's Ladder Companies No.1 and No.3 being used to fight a fire at the Goldberg Brothers' department store on the west side of Woodward Avenue between Grand River and Clifford Street, as viewed from across the street to the northeast. Firefighters work amid broken windows and display cases along the base of the building. A large clearance banner and a "Store for rent" sign are posted on the Grinnell Brothers' Music House next door to Goldberg Brothers. Clough and Warren Company, Pianos; Wood's Ladies Haus; and the William B. Elliott Company are also posted along the block. Several bystanders are also in frame. The photo is mounted on black matte board, with a border relief around the image. "Fred G. Wright, Detroit, Mich. 115 Gratiot Ave. Phone MAIN 5488," is stamped on the verso. - Sepia-toned photo of five firemen on a ladder who are fighting a fire. The base of the ladder is located on a fire truck and the top of the ladder has been set to access a window on the top floor of a 4-story brick building. A firehose can be seen along the length of the ladder. One fireman is located at the base of the ladder, another is midway, and three are at the top with the firehose. A sign on the front of the building indicates that a dental office is located inside although the name of the business is partly obscured by the ladder.

- Large sepia-toned photograph of the roof and clock tower of the Michigan Central Railroad Depot at Third Street and West Jefferson Avenue on fire on December 26, 1913, as taken from the street below. Plumes of water from firefighters' hoses spray up from the bottom of the frame.

- Sepia-toned cabinet card taken of what remained of the Ernst Kern Dry Good Company following the 1886 fire which consumed the store. Only the front façade, and portions of the side, and rear walls remain. Rubble litters the ground. A crowd is gathered on the street near a long horse cart. "Compliments of Theo Hoeningh Usen's" printed on below the photo on the matting. "Shows the store of Ernst Kern" handwritten on verso.

- Black and white postcard depicting the Belle Isle Bridge on Fire, from aboard a fire tug, part of which is visible at the lower left. A dock which extends underneath the bridge is also caught in the fire. The center of the bridge has completely burned. Jets of water from another fire tug are visible in the background near the bridge's opposite end. "W.D. Benham Co., Detroit, Mich." printed on verso.

It appears to have been written by several people. The book is bound in a stained dark green cover with red corners. "Engine Co. 3." is handwritten on the cover.

- Monochromatic glass plate negative taken of the remains of the original Belle Isle Bridge after it burned on April 27, 1915, as viewed from Belle Isle to the west of the bridge, facing the mainland. Four of the bridges piers are visible along the river, no longer bearing the bridge. Closer to the shore, part of one of the spans has collapsed into the water. In the background, along the riverfront, the roller coasters and pavilions of Riverview Park, are visible, as is the Philip Kling Brewing Company, and a sign for Stegmeyer's ferry.

- Mounted sepia-toned photograph of a memorial display for Captain Richard Filban of the Detroit Fire Department's Hook and Ladder Company No. 3, who died in the line of duty at the D.M. Ferry and Company Seed Warehouse fire on January 1, 1886. A framed head-and-shoulders portrait photo of Filban in uniform is surrounded by a floral display. Wreaths, crosses, doves, ladders, axes, and hooks are among the motifs represented in the display. Several messages are also spelled out in flowers, "faithful unto death," "A.O.H.," "G.R.F.D.," "Capt. R.F.," "Last Call Box 16," and "Last Call Dick." The photograph is mounted on a paper backing with "Capt. Richard Filban, H. & L. Company No. 3, D.F.D., Died Jan. 1, 1886," printed below. That backing is additionally mounted on a linen backing.
