- Mounted sepia-toned photograph taken of a fire engine and a hose apparatus in the intersection of Grand River Avenue, Griswold Street, and Rowland Street (now Shelby Street), behind the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, facing the south. A crowd of spectators have gathered around the steam engine from which a cloud of smoke rises. Firefighers are using hoses to spray both the eastern face of the building along Griswold, and the western one along Shelby in the background. Snow covers the ground, and ice coats the eastern face of the school. Signs for Howard's Sandwichs and Coffee, the Siau Laundering Company, and the Chamber of Commerce are visible along Shelby on the right. The photo is mounted on beige cardstock. "From Alvord & Co. Exclusively, Commercial Photographers, 55 Rowland St. Detroit, Mich., Ground Floor," is stamped on the verso, and "Rear view Capitol High School on fire - Jan. 27, 1893," is handwritten..

- Mounted black and white photo of the aerial apparatuses of the Detroit Fire Department's Ladder Companies No.1 and No.3 being used to fight a fire at the Goldberg Brothers' department store on the west side of Woodward Avenue between Grand River and Clifford Street, as viewed from across the street to the northeast. Firefighters work amid broken windows and display cases along the base of the building. A large clearance banner and a "Store for rent" sign are posted on the Grinnell Brothers' Music House next door to Goldberg Brothers. Clough and Warren Company, Pianos; Wood's Ladies Haus; and the William B. Elliott Company are also posted along the block. Several bystanders are also in frame. The photo is mounted on black matte board, with a border relief around the image. "Fred G. Wright, Detroit, Mich. 115 Gratiot Ave. Phone MAIN 5488," is stamped on the verso. - Hardcover journal of the activities of Ladder Company No. 21, recording alarms, fires, orders, and other events, spanning April 25, 1925 to November 7, 1925. It appears to have been written by several people. Inventories of gasoline, motor oil, and equipment have been noted on the final pages. The book is bound in a dark green worn cover with red corners. "Ladder Co. 21." is handwritten on the cover. Six laundry sheets from the Detroit Fire Department Bureau of Buildings and Grounds have also been included between the log's pages.

Two fire engines are in the street in the immediate foreground. A crowd is gathered on the sidewalks. Signs for Frank, Ingils, Druggists; and Solomon S. Bateson and Brother, Tailors are posted on storefronts, and a street light advertises "Billiards and Café." The photo is mounted on beige cardstock. "From Alvord & Co. - Monochromatic glass plate negative taken of the remains of the original Belle Isle Bridge after it burned on April 27, 1915, as viewed from Belle Isle to the west of the bridge, facing northeast. Two spans of the bridge remain standing on the right edge of the frame. One of the bridge's piers stands in the river on the left. Several passenger ferries, canoes, and sailboats are on the river. The Detroit Boat Club stands on the shore on the right, and the Conners Creek Electric Power Plant is under construction in the background.
