Students are arranged in three rows: the back row is standing, the middle row is sitting in chairs, and the front row is sitting on the ground. Hand written text underneath the photo features an arrow pointing at a boy sitting in the first row and shows "Raymond Mumford 1905 Second Grade, Trowbridge School, Detroit Mich." Text at bottom shows "Miss Monahan, teacher." The school was located on the north side of Forest Avenue betwen St. Antoine and Hastings Streets.
