- Description:
- Detroit Fire Department active duty certificate, engraved by Capewell and Kimmel, and issued to J. Wolf on September 27, 1858. The document bears the signatures of President Robert E. Roberts, Treasurer Alexander Paton, and Secretary Benjamin Vernor, beside a green embossed Fire Department of the City of Detroit seal. Hand-colored illustrations of uniformed firefighters, an early fire apparatus and firefighting equipment, the seal of the State of Michigan, and Neptune flanked by two winged monsters are bordered by scrollwork. Stars have been added around the top edge of the central circle motif. The certificate has been mounted on linen.

- One booklet with a black leather cover that is stamped in gold-colored text which shows "Municipal Manual of the City of Detroit, 1900-1901." The booklet is 112 pages in length and is printed in black text on faintly yellowed paper. It includes general facts about the city, names of city officials, names of various committees and commissions and their members, annual salaries, terms of office, rules of order for the Common Council, ward boundary descriptions, street railway routes, values of city real estate, and a summary of assessed valuations for city taxes. There is also a table of contents in the back of the manual as well as a fold-out street map of the city. On a blank page at the back of the manual, a handwritten note shows " Clarence Arthur Cotton, Secretary to Mayor, Detroit, Mich., December 31, 1900. Compliments to Mayor's Secretary of 2001."

- Color postcard depicting a fountain in Grand Circus Park, with people sitting on benches, and buildings in the background. Printed on verso: Grand Circus Park - This Park is the oldest of Detroit's recreation grounds and it situated in the heart of the city through which runs the famous Woodward Avenue. This Park was set aside by the city in 1854, and is enjoyed by thousands in summer on account of its magnificent shade trees. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jul 2, 1912.

- 24 page, 1876 price list for Parke, Davis and Company. Sewn in a green cover bearing a lithograph of the Parke, Davis and Company laboratory on McDougall Avenue, Guion Street, and Atwater Street. Fluid extracts, sugar-coated pills, solid extracts, concentrations, powdered alcoholic extracts, elixirs, syrups, medicinal wines, granular effervescent preparations, granular and powdered effervescent mineral water salts, and spread plasters are listed within. A cut-away illustration of an abdomen demonstrating Dr. Wilson's Eureka Abdominal Supporter is featured on the last page.

- Catalog booklet for C.R. Mabley's Mammoth Establishment, at 122-134 Woodward Avenue. The booklet bound in a purple paper cover with a lithograph of the exterior of the store on the front. Both C.R. Mabley and J.L. Hudson are listed as the proprietors on the cover. The cover also describes the store as, "The Largest Clothing, Boot and Shoe, Hat and Cap, Gents' Furnishing Goods and Custom Tailoring House in America." The company's Cincinnati location is pictured on the back cover. A history of the store, a directory, profiles of the 1880 Democratic Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees Winfield S. Hancock and William H. English, price lists and illustrations of men's and boys' clothing, and help taking your own measurements are contained within.
