- Description:
- This is a collection of newspapers held by the Ingham County Genealogical Society (ICGS), consisting primarily of the Ingham County News (1860-1969 with some gaps). The collection also includes single issues or just a few issues for the following titles: The Dansville Herald (1888); Ingham County Democrat (1917); Ingham Democrat (1846); and Orion Weekly Review (1905). Each newspaper title is a Child Record (below). Each issue makes up one PDF file. Because there are over 100 years of the Ingham County News, those have been divided into sub-records for each year of the paper, with links to that year's PDFs in each. All PDFs are keyword-searchable to the extent technology has allowed for newspapers of their age. ICGS, with support from the Talbert and Leota Abrams Foundation, undertook the digitization and preservation of these papers. They appear to have been digitized from a combination of original papers and microfilmed versions. The original PDF master files were lent to the Forest Parke Library and Archives at CADL in 2019 for copying, and the ICGS and CADL agreed that CADL would host these digital copies in Local History Online for the public, free of charge. ICGS retains all rights to the data in these files. For more information about the Ingham County Genealogical Society, click here.
