- The window of the Bon Marche women's clothing shop was located at 115 Monroe Ave., Grand Rapids. The window display features the famous "Heartbeat" dress worn by Ginger Rogers in the movie of the same name. The dress was available "exclusively" at Bon Marche in Grand Rapids. - Roy Jurgens and Henry Holtvluwer first opened this department store with a third partner in 1912. Their sons and namesakes opened the men's clothing store on Leonard N.W. in 1939. The sons opened other stores and subsequent generations of the family become involved in the business.
