- Description:
- Black and white print of a portrait photograph of workers posed in front of and on Hurlbut Memorial Gate during its construction. Several of the workers pose wearing aprons or holding tools, including stone mason John A. Bauer who stands wearing an apron and a bowler hat atop a brick pillar on the far left. Wooden frames hold up elements of the gate's stone work, and scaffolding is visible within the gate. Wooden cranes have been erected in front of and beside the gate. On the ground around the gate, piles of rubble surround pieces of unfinished stone work. "1894" has been handwritten in pen in the lower left corner.

- Digital scan of a sepia-toned photo taken from the Fifteenth Street bridge overlooking the railroad tracks to the west, during the construction of the Michigan Central Railway Tunnel. Two men walk with tools held over their shoulders below. A gated crossing for Sixteenth Street is in the middle ground. The Enterprise Couch and Furniture Manufacturing Company is on the left, and the Standard Pure Food Company is on the right. A caption printed along the bottom left reads, "139-1, W. from the 15th St. Bridge, 5/28/07."

- Black and white photograph taken overlooking work to convert building "B" of the Ford River Rouge Factory Complex from manufacture of Eagle Boats to that of automobiles. The strip at the center of the photo, in one of the outer aisles of the building, has been mostly filled with dirt, with regularly spaced divots left in it. The adjacent strips visible in the background on the right, are still being filled in. A worker driving a tractor pulls a trailer carrying wooden boxes, one of which is being handled by another worker. "26784-5-27-19," is printed in the lower right corner of the recto, and "3C-3," is handwritten on the verso. The photo is mounted on a linen backing.

A kneeling worker inspects a switch along the tracks, while another works on the windows overlooking the left side of the gap from a ladder.
