- This is a group of three newspaper clippings from the Washington Herald (December 12, 1934) concerning the Hotel Kerns fire in Lansing.

- Photo of the Central Fire Station, Lansing, and some firefighting vehicles. The hand fire engine was purchased in 1858. The first auto pumper, middle, purchased in 1908. The Seagrave, right, purchased in 1925. Officials in the photo were part of the "old" Fire Board from 1908: J.P. Edmonds, L.E. Imes, Ed Smith, John Bohnet, and Hugo Delfs, Chief.

- Fire Station building with officers and vehicles in front. This station was built in 1904 at 125 South Grand Avenue and served until 1949. The building was demolished in 1951. This photograph appears in "Pictorial Souvenir Book of the Police and Fire Departments, Lansing, Michigan" (1913) by Harry Wilkinson.

- Musician Don "Doop" Duprie presents, "Making it in Detroit : songs of working class life." Duprie's music runs the gamut from rock to country as he seeks to bring out the sense of loss, confusion, and rage that accompany the struggle to make it in the Motor City. In between songs, Duprie talks about his life in River Rouge, MI, the inspiration for his songs, labor unions, his time as a firefighter, and his views on the gentrification of Detroit. Duprie is introduced by Michigan State University Professor John P. Beck. Part of the "Our Daily Work/Our Daily Lives" Brown Bag series sponsored by the MSU School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, the MSU Museum, and the MSU Libraries. Held in the MSU Main Library.
