One man is standing near the girl and is holding a DYC (Detroit Yacht Club) burgee in his left hand. The photo may have been taken at the Detroit Yacht Club.

- Monochromatic glass plate negative taken of the launch of the Pittsburgh Steamship Company freighter HARVARD on the grounds of the Detroit Ship Building Company, as taken from off of its port quarter. The freighter has been side-launched into a slip, and water splashed from beneath it. A group of people brace themselves on board the freighter near its stern. A group of spectators watch from the scaffolding beside the slip, and below near the edge of the slip.

Men on board near the stern are taking down the boat's dressing of signal flags, and the banners draped along its side has been partially removed. A series of large silos, a smoke stack, and the frame of a building under construction are visible at the complex in the background.
