A small triangular structure in the foreground at the lower right stands on the near side of a small bridge. Printed on verso: Ferry for Windsor, Canada. These ferry boats run from their dock at foot of Woodward Avenue across the Detroit River to Windsor, Canada and carry many hundred passengers daily. - Black and white print of a lithograph depicting a view of Detroit from the Detroit River in 1794, taken from page 367 of Silas Farmer's The History of Detroit and Michigan. In the 1889 book, the citadel, then-present Wayne Street, Ste. Anne's Catholic Church, the old council house, the brig GENERAL GAGE, and Griswold Street are labeled below from left to right. In addition to the GAGE, a pair of smaller sailboats and a canoe are in the foreground. "S. Farmer" is printed in the lower left, and a blacked out signature is printed in the lower right. "Insert from Collot map, 1796" and "From the original painting in Paris" handwritten on verso.

- Sepia-toned photo of the Carkeek Printing Company building taken from a ship docked at the Nicholson-Universal Steamship Company docks at the foot of First Street. A group of men stand along the riverfront outside of the company's garage. A woman stands behind a large upright wooden barrier to which two posters have been hung at the foot of the dock, while two other woman stand on the dock at the lower portion of the frame. The Standart Brothers Hardware Corporation building stands in the background. "Detroit dock 1923," is handwritten in the bottom border.
