The sky had been painted a solid beige in a previous generation of this print, and the streetcar rails in the foreground, and several pedestrians have been outlined in grey in this print. S. - Print. Black and white print of The J.L. Hudson Clothier. The building façade features a series of windows, including those at street level with large window displays. Pedestrians and carriages are visible on the street and sidewalk. Signage affixed to the building façade reads, "J.L. Hudson Clothier. Men's and Boy's Clothing, Boots & Shoes for Everybody, Fine Merchant Tailoring ~ Hats Caps and Men's Furnishings, J.L. Hudson. Clothier." Hand-written on the verso, "Hudson's in 1887 - On Woodward Ave where Sanders is Now Located."

Visible in the central left foreground is a policeman's traffic stand. Visible in the background is the Majestic Building.

A horse-drawn car leads a column of electric cars. Two newsreel film crews, including Hearst Metrotone News, shoot the parade. The sign for Fyfe's Shoes is in the background on the left. Central United Methodist Church stands in the center of the background, on the northeast side of the park.

Across Jefferson, on the west side of Woodward is a four story building occupied by A.C. McGraw and Company, Wholesale and Retail Boots and Shoes. Along the east side of Woodward, signs are posted for Aetna Insurance, a wholesale hat, cap, and fur store, another shoe store, a crockery store, D.B. Nichols and Company, and a carpet store. Faint impressions of several pedestrians who moved through the frame during the exposure are visible.
