- Depicts seven well-known politicians of the time riding hobby horses labeled with each politician's favorite issue. Each rider comments on the advantage of their hobby horse. Martin Van Buren rides the lead horse labeled "Subtreasury." Thomas Hart Benton follows on "Specie Currency," followed by "The United States Bank," which is ridden by both Henry Clay and Daniel Webster. Behind them is John C. Calhoun on "States Rights and Nullification," followed by William Henry Harrison in full military dress on "Anti-Masonic." Bringing up the rear is John Quincy Adams on "Abolition."; "Entd. accordg. to Act of Congress in the year 1838 by H.R. Robinson, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States for the Southern District of New York."
