- The grist mill was built in 1937 by Johnson Niles and passed through many hands before being sold to Steven W. Barkham and Beal Barkham in 1903. It was completely destroyed by fire in 1927. It was located south of downtown Rochester on the west side of Main Street, near First Street and the Clinton River. Commonly known as Barkham Mill.
