goblet sherds with incised decoration; Karanis; Glass vessels; Glass
- Notes:
- Colorless glass with greenish tinge. Many fragments of rim and side, no trace of base. One fragment dulled, with traces of iridescence, the rest covered with a powdery, iridescent, milky film, easily flaking off. Material fair. Plain, polished rim. Sides taper downward with faint convex curve. The exterior of the vase covered with a finely cut pattern from rim downward, consisting of a raised horizontal ridge at rim, another just below, and a third 1.7 cm below that; these form a border to the main design which is composed of lozenges, trucated at top and bottom and set in quincux formation with, as a top row, a series of alternately large and small ovate figures.
