Parking Protest

Description:
Four photographs documenting a meeting of about 100 citizens and business owners for the formation of a permanent organization. The meeting, held in the basement of a then-vacant building at Grand and East Michigan avenues that formerly housed Vandervoort Hardware, was to do with protesting the installation of parallel parking on East Michigan Avenue and a change to parallel parking on Washington Avenue. This meeting garnered front-page coverage in the Lansing State Journal on May 23, 1958.
