Crepe Dinner Dress with Heavily Beaded Bodice and Sleeves, 1943

Description:
Dinner dress of dark gray crepe with a bodice and sleeves accented with gray embroidery and beading of steel beads done in a diamond pattern. Tassels of steel beads terminate from the center of each diamond. The skirt has a slight gathering over the hips and soft gathered detail on the right front, which gives softness and detail to an otherwise plain skirt. This garment was owned by Matilda Dodge Wilson (October 19, 1883 – September 19, 1967),who was the wife of John Francis Dodge (October 25, 1864 – January 14, 1920), co-founder of the Dodge Motor Car Company in Detroit, Michigan.
