Description:

This is a collection of approximately 500,000 pages of microform material from one or more departments of the City of Lansing, which date from 1964 to about 1985. Much of the material is undated, and the bulk of what has dates was produced in the late 1970s. Based on subject titles typed onto each microfiche sleeve, a large portion of the material is related to Lansing's participation in the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant program. This program, initiated in 1974 during the administration of President Gerald Ford, attempts to eliminate poverty and urban blight with control largely placed in the hands of state and local authorities. Typical materials in this collection include minutes and agendas for various committees such as Zoning or Parks and Recreation, correspondence, chronological files, interoffice files, and subject files.
