Description:

Certificate certifying William J. Higham as a member of the parade committee during Detroit's bi-centenary celebrations. The heading at the top of the certificate reads "BI-CENTENARY of the founding of Detroit," and indicates that the celebration took place "July 24-25-26th," 1901. A drawing under the header depicts Cadillac landing at Detroit in 1701. The text of the certificate reads: "A Memento of the celebration of the Bi-Centenary of the founding of the City of Detroit. This is to Certify that William J. Higham was a member of the Parade Committee." Signature on the bottom right of the certificate reads "William C. Maybury," followed by the printed text "Chairman General Executive Committee." The bottom left corner of the certificate is embossed and foil stamped with the seal of the Mayor of the City of Detroit.
