Tomb of a youth called Sulpicius Maximus, on the southern side of the Porta Salaria, excavated in 1871. A cippus with the figure of the defunct attired in toga, with two long inscriptions, one of either side of the niche, consisting of a prize poem in fortythree hexameter verses, which he had improvised at eleven years of age, in the Capitoline competition, in the time of Domitian. Beneath is his epitaph in Latin, and two Greek epigrams composed in his honour.; Rome; Photographs and prints; Cardboard
