Description:

White paper envelope addressed to "E. J. White, Esquire" of "Lapeer, Michigan" (handwritten in brown ink). The envelope has been cut with scissors along the left edge. It has a red 3-cent George Washington stamp and is postmarked "Detroit, Mich., May 19," however the year is not indicated. The back side of envelope shows an engraving of Duncan's Central Brewery, Detroit, along with black text. Langdon & Co. is shown adjacent to the brewery in the engraving.
