Numerous signs are seen along the east side of South Washington Avenue: Porter's women's clothing at 105, Liebermann Trunk Company at 107, Lansing Camera Shop at 109, Stamp-Rite Marking Devices at 111 1/2, Two Legs men's clothing at 115, and National Peanut Corp. at 117. On the opposite side of South Washington Avenue, Woolworth's at Allegan Street and Knapps at Washtenaw Street are in good focus. Several blocks of South Washington Avenue fill the rest of the image. Bright sunlight and deep shadow characterize the photograph. City Planning Division staff trimmed the photo on one side.
