Rome; Lamps; Clay (unfired)

Notes:

Pinkish buff micaceous clay; unglazed. ‘Delphiniform lamp’. End of broad flat-topped nozzle missing, probably had blunt end. At base of nozzle is a moulded figure (lion’s skin in croaching attitude?). Small stamped circle at either side of figure. Rows of raised dots on rim. Ornamented fin-like projection on left side. Raised rim about small sunk discus with central filling hole. Band handle broken, was added separately. Base ring set in grooves.
