Notes:

Gazda: Coin with portrait of Alexander the Great with an elephant-scalp cap and horns of Ammon. Reverse: Athena with shield, spear and bird. Silver tetradrachm, minted under Ptolemy I Soter. Coinage offered an effective means of circulating political messages to a broad population. The image of Alexander wearing an elephant-scalp cap refers to his triumph in India and likens Alexander to the Greek god Dionysos who also celebrated an Indian triumph. The ram's horns identify Alexander as the divine son of Zeus-Ammon.
