[A method of getting inebriated individuals off of a boat during low tide]

- J[ames] Silver ALS to Mother, Father, and sister (and others), February 21, 1872. New Orleans, [La.], page 5. From a collection of 12 letters, each several pages long, that Silver composed during his 1872 visit to New Orleans, Louisiana. He recounted his journey from New York to Louisiana, as well as his time spent in and around New Orleans. Silver included 39 ink sketches of people and scenery throughout his letters.
