The four-storied central entrance pavilion is flanked by the balanced wings of the House and Senate and above the building floats a distinctive, graceful cast iron dome. The capitol was re­stored between 1989 and 1992. Michigan's primary safety belt law has prevented an estimated 250 traffic deaths over the past five years.
