Color postcard depicting the Hudson's Building and Pardridge & Blackwell Building from the intersection of Farmer and Monroe Streets. Business signs read "Johnson's Chop House", "P. & B.", and "Lume's Stag Hotel", with a streetcar, pedestrians, and horse-drawn vehicles visible. Printed on verso: Pardridge & Blackwell's and J.L. Hudson's Big Department Stores occupy opposite corners of Gratiot Avenue and Farmer Street. Both are department stores of the mot advanced type and occupy their own buildings, especially constructed for their own use, each taking up virtually half a complete city square. The corner which they occupy has often been termed the heart of Detroit's retail district. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jan 14, 1909.
