Exterior view of the home of Detroit News publisher, James E. Scripps at Trumbull and Grand River in Detroit, Michigan. "When Scripps decided to expand his residence to make room for his growing collection of art, it was natural for him to think in terms of Tudor gothic, Mason and Rice were able to accommodate him with a soaring English baronial castle composed of crenelated walls dominated by an octagonal tower, the details, such as the oriel window on the tower were evidence of Scripps's taste for fine workmanship," from "The Buildings of Detroit: A History," by W.
