Rome; Lamps; Glaze; Clay (unfired)

Notes:
Buff clay with worn reddish-brown to brown glaze. End of nozzle restored but original volutes at base remain. Slit-shaped hole in neck. Volutes encroach slightly on rim which has flat plain outer band and series of grooves and molding sloping inward to discus. Band of gladiator’s armor about discus: crossed greaves on top, helmet on either side of greaves, short sword at left, below helmet and curved sword at right, at bottom are two scuta. Molded circle about central filling hole. Handle missing; 21965 was attached but does not belong. Slightly raised circular base set of by groove.
