- Description:
- Photograph of Benton House, Lansing, with horse drawn carriage passing. Built by Bush, Thomas & Lee, opened in 1848 on the northwest corner of Washington Avenue and Main Street. It was the first brick building erected in Lansing. The hotel later became the Everett House. In 1900 the deteriorated hotel was razed and the property sold to R.E. Olds who built his residence on the site in 1903.

- Photograph of East Michigan Avenue looking west toward Capitol, Lansing. The Chapman House hotel can be seen at left. The photograph was taken before streetcars, and electric wires were in limited use compared with later views.

- Description:
- Photo of print of Mineral Well House, Lansing. Built by C.Y. Edwards and others 1870, burned 1879. Located on the east side of South River Street while the Bath House and Mineral Well were on the west side , about 75 feet south of the River Street Bridge. The Bath House was later the site of Jarvis Engineering. Hugh Lyons, a former Mayor was in charge of the Bath House and John Smallwood was chief barber. A railroad station was on the grounds and a landing accomodated small steamers that operated on the Grand River.

- Photograph of burned ruins of the Bryan Hotel, Lansing. The hotel was located at 327 East Michigan Avenue, and the fire occurred April 28-29, 1904. The back of the hotel is shown.

- Description:
- Photograph of the brick Lansing House under construction, Lansing, in 1866. Built by Col. Lafayette C. Baker with a portion of the money he received for the capture of John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Abraham Lincoln. Baker was head of the secret service in Washington, D.C. The hotel was badly damaged by fire in 1876. Henry J. Downey, in 1889, purchased the hotel and reopened it as the Downey House. In 1937 the hotel was razed by the Downey estate who then leased the land to the J. W. Knapp Co. who erected a modern department store on the site.
