- Mounted black and white photograph taken of the ruins of Capitol High School following its fire on January 27, 1893, as viewed from an elevated positioned across Griswold Street to the southwest. Icicles hang from the building's facade and surrounding utility lines, and rubble has settled around its base. A ladder apparatus, and a fire engine are on Griswold, near the northeastern end of the building. Several figures dot the streets. The sign for the Griswold Street Theatre is visible on the right edge of the frame. A moonlight tower is visible down State Street on the left edge of the frame. - A photographic print of a 8 photos composited onto the same matting. Depicted are head and shoulder portraits of M. Condon, Lieutenant F. Wilkenson, and Captain P. R. Garr at the upper left corner, bottom left corner, and lower right corner. The top center image is of B. Cronin and D. Breen leading the horse drawn fire engine No. 3 out of their firehouse. A small unlabeled photo of what appears to be a hose apparatus is at the upper right. Several firefighters posed with the 1st automotive of Company No. 3 are pictured at the center left. A shot of the firefighter-lined ladder apparatus of Ladder Company No. 1 labeled as the "Bull Moose," in front of a wall painted with a sign for the Detroit News is positioned on the center right edge. Engine Company No. 3's automotive and Ladder Company No 3's apparatus are pictured racing down the street at the bottom of the composition. The matting is decorated with scrollwork and chain patterns.

The matting is decorated with a set four pairs of double lines with surround the image, and below "Ladder 1" in a blackletter script.

- Mounted sepia-toned photographic print of eight firefighters posing in front of their apparatus--a horse-drawn wagon with drivers at each end, stacked with ladders. Their firehouse is in the background. "Loaned by Mrs. Agnes Cooney Paul, 511 W. Hildale. Martin Cooney." written on verso. Depicted is either Ladder Company No. 2 or No. 6, with driver Martin Cooney who later became superintendent of horses.
